Are you a recently graduated veterinarian wanting to improve your management and approach to anaesthesia and analgesia or are considering a career as a veterinary anaesthetist?
Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (WAVES) Intern training program is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, intelligent veterinarian who is passionate about anaesthesia and analgesia. .
This rare opportunity will provide a recent graduate or veterinarian with an interest in Anaesthesia and Analgesia, a chance to develop their knowledge base and technical skills under the support and guidance of an American Boarded Specialist Veterinary Anaesthetist. This position would also be suitable for a veterinarian who is intending to obtain further training prior to attempting Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists Memberships in Anaesthesia and Analgesia or those intending to apply for a residency position in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia.
WAVES is a multi-disciplinary hospital offering a broad range of veterinary referral services including internal medicine, surgery, anaesthesia, imaging, dermatology, dentistry, and emergency. We have state-of-the-art equipment and experienced nursing teams, and give the assurance of exceptional care to all our patients. Whilst the program is primarily in the field of Anaesthesia, as part of the program, you will have the opportunity to undertake short rotations in emergency and critical care to develop skills in management of patients with emergent problems or who are critically ill if required / desired.
Requirements
- Must be a qualified veterinarian who is eligible for registration in the state of Western Australia
- Candidates must have a mature approach to veterinary care and excellent communication skills.
- Be motivated to attend training sessions including case discussions, journal clubs, seminars, lectures, etc outside of normal rostered working hours
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a range of people from support staff through to veterinary nurses and veterinary specialists
