We have all the equipment you would expect in a modern referral veterinary hospital including full in-house laboratory suite with Radiometer, multi-parameter patient monitors, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, underwater treadmill, mechanical ventilation, on-site CT and MRI, along with dedicated cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms and wards.

Our successful candidates must have a positive attitude, be approachable and open with excellent communication skills as well as a passion for every aspect of emergency veterinary care. A NZ equivalent veterinary qualification and least 2 years’ experience as a veterinarian is required. Experience in emergency work is helpful but not required as our large team can provide support and a collaborative working environment.
As well as seeing emergency cases from all over New Zealand, the ER team also provides a vital role of looking after specialist inpatients including unusual and critical cases. The ER team is involved with stabilisation, diagnostics and treatment, including surgery.
From January 2025, ARC will have a structured surgical training and mentorship programme for interested ER vets, overseen by our surgical specialists and surgery resident. Vets who have an interest in developing their surgical skills, but are not yet confident in performing emergency surgery without support are welcome to apply.
