Are you a recently graduated equine veterinarian with 1–2 years of experience, passionate about working with elite sport horses? Tweedie & Associates Equine Veterinary Services is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and team-oriented veterinarian to join our dynamic ambulatory practice, with the recent addition of a haul in facility.

Tweedie & Associates is a leading equine veterinary service specializing in sport horse care. Our ambulatory practice is committed to providing top-tier veterinary services to a diverse clientele, focusing on performance horses across a variety of disciplines. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative work environment where mentorship, continuous learning, and professional growth are at the forefront. The drive to provide top-tier veterinary services has led us to recently open a facility to see patients at the clinic. The addition of a crush, stables and designated areas to work up our lameness cases more and offer additional services.

We have a great client base that allows us to pursue a high standard of veterinary care. Our clientele wants to do what is best for their horse and allow us as equine vets to offer a high level of service.

The Role:

As part of our team, you will:

  • Provide high-quality ambulatory care to sport horses, including lameness evaluations, diagnostic imaging, Dental services, Gastroscopy and general equine medicine.
  • Work closely with an experienced veterinarian who is passionate about mentorship and professional development.
  • Develop strong client relationships through excellent communication and a commitment to exceptional care.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to expand your clinical skills and knowledge in equine sports medicine.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified veterinarian with 1–2 years of equine clinical experience. You must be able to be licensed in Victoria.
  • A strong interest in sporthorse medicine and performance care.
  • Excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented environment.
  • A valid veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain) in the applicable region.
  • An interest in developing your own niche within the clinic, whether that be dental surgery, poor performance assessments, dermatology or ophthalmology. We will support you to develop your area.

  • We have a great team of veterinary nurses who are there to support you as a veterinary surgeon. The nursing team help during the consult and between consults to allow you as a vet to concentrate on being a vet.
  • On call is minimal but is shared to ensure a good work life balance. A 4-day weekend is offered after being on call to allow you to enjoy the local area. 99% of our after-hours work is between 5pm and 8pm generally.
  • On call would be around 3 evenings a fortnight and one weekend in 3.
