Illawarra Equine Centre is an exclusively equine practice, located in Berry, 90 minutes from Sydney, on the beautiful South Coast of New South Wales. The local area offers pristine surf beaches, beautiful countryside and is an excellent food and wine region with regular local markets and interesting places to visit.

We are seeking a full-time Equine Veterinarian for our busy 3 to 4 solely equine practice. The position also includes an exciting opportunity to shape your own future and impact your own asset through future partnership prospects.

THE PRACTICE

Our successful practice is comprised of a team of experienced veterinarians and dedicated support staff. We have a loyal client base throughout the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions and see a diverse range of equine patients from racehorses and competition horses, through to pleasure horses and pony club mounts.

The practice is predominantly ambulatory, though also includes a new purpose-built hospital near Berry to facilitate day procedures and hospitalisation of horses.

Illawarra Equine Centre has a long standing affiliation with both REC Equine Specialists(REC) and Southern Highlands Equine Centre (SHEC), bringing unique benefits from the groups resources, specialist advice and support.

THE POSITION

This busy role offers a diverse range of work including racetrack, reproduction, lameness, pre-purchase examinations, preventative care, dentistry, and surgery. The applicant will receive a well-stocked vehicle (for personal and work use) and access to a portable crush, state of the art dental equipment, ultrasound machine, endoscope, portable digital x-ray machine and in-house laboratory services.

An on-call roster of 1 in 4 weekends supports a good work/life balance.

A salary of $120-150 000 is being offered, depending on experience and includes a car, phone, laptop, 1 weeks paid annual CPD and veterinary board and EVA registration.

THE PERSON

Experience in an equine only, or mixed practice with large animal focus, is highly desirable. New graduates and overseas applicants are encouraged to apply.
