Warners Bay is a vibrant community on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie. Speciality shops and cafes are within walking distance and beautiful sandy beaches only a short drive.
Warners Bay Vet is a rapidly growing small animal hospital located in the Newcastle region. We provide an exceptional standard of diagnostic and treatment options with the highest standards of clinical care. We give honest, professional advice in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
We are only 12 years old and are proud to offer a well-equipped hospital that features the latest in veterinary technology. Our equipment includes digital xray, ultrasound, IM3 dental machines, dental xray & vet-tome, electro cautery & ligasure (easily take out a spleen in under 10 minutes!), in house Idexx blood testing, tono-pen, cardell patient monitoring, heated anaesthetic circuits, bair hugger patient warming and more.
At our small animal hospital, you’ll be supported by three experienced veterinarians and five talented veterinary nursing staff. You’ll encounter an interesting case load, which aims to keep you engaged and excited to come to work each and every day. We undertake a variety of surgical cases ranging from routine de-sexing and simple lumps to more complicated orthopaedics and soft tissue surgeries. For those more medically oriented we consult, diagnose and treat a wealth of medical conditions. We enjoy regular team meetings and combined complex case discussions with all our veterinary staff and are fortunate enough to have committed clientele that support this process giving you the opportunity to make a real difference to them and their pets.
The clinic is currently open from 8:30am until 6pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 1pm on Saturday. There are no after hours on call duties.
The ideal candidate will be registered in NSW, have an open, honest, reliable, positive, enthusiastic and friendly demeanour. They will be able to work well within a team environment and have an interest in working up more complicated cases.
All sound a bit daunting? Don’t worry. If you’re a recent graduate or an experienced veterinarian who’s returning to the workforce after a short break we’ve got you covered. We understand you may be a bit nervous starting out or getting back in the saddle and can help make your transition easier with 30-minute consults and a floating vet available to pick up any overflow and offer advice if you get caught up on something a bit more complicated. If surgery isn’t your thing, not a problem, you can participate in as much or as little surgery as you like as our other vets love this stuff. Big dental procedures and extractions got you concerned? We can help here also. One of our vets actively seeks out these cases and is more than happy to mentor, provide support and/or advice whenever the need arises.
At Warners Bay Vet we believe that flexibility and work life balance are the most important aspects in keeping us all engaged. That’s why we’re negotiable with hours to help accommodate your individual needs. If you’re looking for a part time position, we’re happy to work around school drop off and pick up if needed. In our full-time position, we have embraced a four-day week with rotating roster for weekend work, so you’ll have plenty of time to pursue your other interests.
We value diversity and inclusivity, and believe that our team is strongest when it reflects the communities we serve. If this sounds like it’s for you and you’re interested in joining our team, please send your resume and cover letter to David Brown at brownsvet001@gmail.com
