The Australian Animal Protection Society present an exciting opportunity for an associate veterinarian wanting to move into a rewarding shelter career, offering a full-time or part-time position.

Servicing our community from our purpose-built facility in Keysborough, the role will be shared between outpatient surgery/consulting and shelter.
We are a no-kill shelter and treat all animals that come through the door like our own.
We treat ringworm, flu, FIV and geriatric cats with chronic disease.
We delay desexing in our large breed puppies and refer to external specialist services when required.
Well equipped with multiple surgery suites, in-house IDEXX Catalyst and ProCyte, tonometer, in house ultrasound and radiology, advance dentistry equipment including charting programming, 2 x IM3 dental machines, dental radiographs, and equipment for more advance dentistry such as restorations, root canals etc.
Our current vet team have a varied set of skills, including routine soft tissue surgery to more complex surgical skills, ultrasound, behaviour medicine and advance dentistry. Our vet team are a highly skilled group of professionals who love what they do and the animals they care for.
Due to our low-cost desexing program, we have a high surgery load, shared between 2 full-time surgeons daily but due to the shelter case load we are lucky to be able to work up interesting medical cases also.
About the position:
- 1 position as a full time or part time general practice veterinarian servicing clients through our outpatient facility
- 1 position as part time, sterile shelter surgeon only
Requirements:
- Current registration within Victoria
- Experience/interest in animal welfare/shelter would be highly regarded, but not essential
- Initiative, quick learner, problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and record keeping
- Ability to work in a close team
- Empathy, compassion and communication are the main characteristics you will need to excel in this job
