When you come on-board, we provide on-the-job and external training to help you deliver excellent emergency and critical care to your patients. Supported by a team of vets on duty, Vet Duty Manager, Nurse Duty Manager and vet nurses we assist you to achieve the most out of your work day and longer-term career goals.

Perfect for experienced vets wanting to stretch into a manager role, there is still plenty of room to practice exciting emergency medicine, but with the added challenge of working with our management team making decisions and supporting and mentoring younger vets

For international applicants the temporary skills shortage visa enables approved veterinarians to work in Australia with approved sponsorship in three streams.

External training is providing through Sydney University CVE (https://www.cve.edu.au/) and Veterinary Information Network (VIN https://www.vin.com/vin). A team of 4 other Senior Vets plus the Veterinary Director support each other to develop our clinical and management skills. We additionally financially support your career path through providing assistance with continuous education.

We also support the next generation vet students from Murdoch University and James Cook University to help them grow and understand whether emergency is an environment in which they thrive.

We organise with you a fixed or 2-week rotating roster with flexibility to facilitate the best chance at achieving a true-life work balance. We offer 4-weeks paid leave per annum.

About us

EVH does not run with KPI’s. We think they stifle development and negatively affect veterinarian’s growth. The competitive nature of KPIs is the very core of what we don’t like surrounding the veterinary environment.

We value teamwork, kindness and respect towards self, each other and the community we serve.

We encourage international applicants and financially support with relocation and visa costs. The temporary skills shortage visa enables approved veterinarians to work in Australia with approved sponsorship in three streams.

In 2022 the expanded hospital was completed and we now offer:

  • New purpose-built intensive care ward with oxygen cages, generators and ventilator. Including an incubator for small patients
  • New SmartFlow for patient management within the hospital
  • New dedicated imaging room with new GE Logiq P9 ultrasound https://www.gehealthcare.com.au/products/ultrasound/logiq/logiq-p9
  • Video Endoscopy – Olympus Pentax and Digital xrays including separate dental xrays.
