Concord Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full time or part time veterinarian who will fit well into our small animal practice in Sydney's Inner West. Experienced and recent graduates are welcome to apply. We currently employ five veterinarians, ten veterinary nurses, three veterinary students and a hospital manager.
The position can be tailored to your skillset, and we promote continuing education in your chosen area. For example – we have veterinarians who are interested in dentistry, FIP diagnosis and treatment, surgery, ultrasound, and endocrine disorders, to name a few. We are immensely proud to have been at forefront in the successful treatment of FIP, and then to go on to assist in development of the primary treatment protocol for FIP worldwide. One of our veterinarians is a published author in a major review on the treatment and associated outcomes for FIP, published in the JVFMS in 2023, and we have written protocols on the treatment of FIP published in the Control and Therapy magazine published by the CVE.
We are likewise proud to work closely alongside the Cat Protection Society of NSW. A full Cat Protection Society wing was developed in 2021 for the exclusive diagnosis and treatment of CPS cats and kittens and works independently but concurrently with the private hospital.
What we can offer you:
- Eight-day fortnight (full time)
- An amazing team with a twisted sense of humour
- A high case load with an abundance of interesting medical and surgical cases
- 4 weeks annual leave and 1-week study leave per annum
- Generous CPD package
- Access to up-to-date equipment that is constantly being upgraded
- No after-hours work
- Closed on Sundays!
Our ideal candidate for this position will:
- Be a compassionate veterinarian with a strong patient focus
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Be confident with handling medicine cases through to completion
- Be able to manage hospital cases proficiently
- Have a good understanding of feline and canine medicine with a passion for shelter medicine
- Be able to work in a team environment – our team is passionate about our patients, our clients, each other, and our shelter medicine
- Have an excellent work ethic: we are a busy practice – and we all work together for the best outcomes for our patients
Concord Veterinary Hospital has three consulting rooms, a combined pharmacy/lab, IDEXX Procyte, Catalyst and Sedivue, new surgical suite and dedicated surgical prep room and treatment/hospital room with a wet table. Our Cat Protection Society wing has a surgical suite, holding room, pharmacy and three hospital rooms to ensure adequate infection control measures are in place. We are equipped with two IM3 Dental machines, two IM3 dental x-ray setups, entire suite of dental equipment including enamel sealing equipment, digital x-ray and brand-new ultrasound machine. It goes without saying: we of course have five anaesthetic machines, IV fluid pumps, blood pressure monitoring, ETCO2, doppler, blood transfusion equipment, syringe drivers and ophthalmic equipment including tonovet and voroteks.
