Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital, Shepparton, Victoria, Australia has a unique opportunity for a multi skilled clinician to join the team in a negotiable hybrid position. The duration of the contract can be negotiated and for the right candidate we can consider a permanent contract after the initial season.

The successful applicant will join a dedicated team addressing and working with your strengths and experience in the fields of internal medicine and reproduction.

We are a large practice and referral hospital with a diverse and broad caseload across many different disciplines ranging from emergency medicine, internal medicine, orthopaedics, sports medicine, surgery, dentistry, and reproduction. The position offers the opportunity to perform high quality veterinary medicine and reproduction with the added benefit of consultation with highly regarded, specialized veterinarians in their fields. The candidate will join a dynamic staff that consisting of veterinarians, including board-certified reproduction, dental, surgery and medicine specialists. Our team also includes associate veterinarians, interns, many support staff and The University of Melbourne final year students.

We seek an individual with a forward-thinking and positive attitude that can function well as a part of our team. The candidate must have excellent communication and people skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to provide exceptional client service.

The ideal candidate must be experienced in general equine and stud medicine and is required to support the reproduction team some days of the week, and the medicine team on other days. In addition, reproduction or stud medicine related ambulatory calls will be part of the role, as will participation in afterhours.

An interest in artificial reproduction technologies is beneficial as our facility hosts mares for artificial insemination using fresh, chilled, and frozen semen along with a large recipient mare herd for embryo transfer. The facility also has an active stallion program, quarantine, and semen storage facilities. An interest in emergency medical cases is required (colics, colitis, sick peripartum mares, sick foals).

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with abilities and experience. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria.
