Key tasks and responsibilities of the role (your contribution)
We are looking for a skilled Senior Veterinarian Pathologist to join our high performing team at the Biosecurity Sciences Laboratory to:
- use veterinary pathology skills in the investigation, diagnosis, and reporting of animal diseases in veterinary species, including surveillance for emergency animal diseases, emerging diseases, and endemic disease diagnosis
- ensure that the laboratory maintains a high level of customer service by working closely with government and private veterinarians and other clients to consistently understand and meet their needs
- develop and maintain an expert, contemporary awareness and understanding of livestock, wildlife and aquatic animal disease and diagnostic techniques
- support emergency animal disease responses in Queensland.
Mandatory requirements
- A degree in Veterinary Science obtained from an Australian university or recognised equivalent.
- Current or eligible registration with the Queensland Veterinary Surgeons Board.
- Vaccination or immunity to Q fever, rabies, Japanese encephalitis will be required. Commitment to obtain vaccination or evidence of prior vaccination will be required prior to starting with Biosecurity Queensland.
- Participation in emergency response activities and availability to participate in an on-call roster as out-of-hours work will be required.
