Sand, surf and the occasional penguin!
An amazing opportunity to work in the beautiful natural environment of Phillip Island as part of a high functioning veterinary team.
You will be a key part of an experienced, motivated team that provides patient centred care in a busy clinical setting. Your role will be to provide evidence-based medicine and practical surgery to improve the lives of the patients that you see. You will be working in a safe to fail environment where challenges are seen as opportunities and continual development and improvement is highly valued.
Cowes is a small cohesive community with many visitors coming to see its raw beauty and native wildlife. This leads to a highly diverse client base from resident locals, weekend locals and one-time visitors. As a Veterinary Surgeon you will be client facing and will be comfortable with client communication and problem resolution. You will have the scope to collaborate with all levels of the team to ensure that patient needs are met to the highest clinical standards. In addition, you will be developing and implementing processes to further improve our clinical capacity and to helping to optimise the client experience. Cowes Veterinary Surgery is one of only two clinics on Philip Island and with the diverse populations and environments you will get to see a highly varied case load. At Cowes Veterinary Surgery we cover anything from routine long term health care to puffer fish ingestion and emergency gastropexy.
You will be working for a family-owned company which always strives to improve the services provided to our clients and patients whilst in a supportive and rewarding environment for those who collaborate with us. In keeping with our ethos of continually improving, we will provide you with support and further development of your leadership and clinical skills. This will include further internal and external training including CPD in accordance with personal and clinical development goals.
Whilst Cowes Veterinary Surgery has great access to the Melbourne specialist and referral centres, we also like to utilise the clinical skills that we have all invested so much into acquiring. You will have access to a fully equipped veterinary facility including full Idexx in house diagnostics including digital microscope, well equipped surgery with full anaesthetic monitoring, quality ultrasound and DR X-Ray. To keep everything running smoothly we use ezyVet including its many advanced features and integrations. We are always looking to invest in our inhouse capability and as such equipment is kept well maintained, up to date and we are always reviewing what is available and how we could implement it.
Phillip Island is one of the most attractive and sought after places to live and work on the Victorian coastline. It is stunningly beautiful and boasts many resources and facilities for a wide range of sporting and recreational activities. The community is varied and active, known for being outward facing and welcoming to newcomers.
At Cowes Veterinary Surgery our mission is to provide the best possible care and outcomes for people and their pets. If you are excited at the prospect of being in a pivotal role to help us achieve this amazing work, we would welcome you to come and visit us and would love the opportunity to show you around. We are looking for someone to work full time (4 day working week) and shared Saturdays. All levels of experience considered.
To arrange a visit or if you would like to discuss the position further then call us on 03 5952 2936, or email your CV to Dr Sophie Elphick BVSc, MANZCVS (Equine Medicine) at admin@cowesvet.au.
