The Gap Veterinary Surgery is a well-equipped, 3 vet, 5 nurse small animal practice located in a picturesque suburb approximately 8 km west of the Brisbane CBD.
We are a long-established practice that enjoys a client demographic best described as well-educated, amicable and pet focussed.
The practice is seeking to employ a full time veterinarian (negotiable - part time also considered).
No after hours, no public holidays and the practice is closed on Sundays.
Necessary qualities are a good sense of humour, a genuine fondness for people and pets, professional poise with clients and staff, mature communication skills, a sound clinical knowledge, a commitment to thoroughness and a relaxed, collegial mindset
Successful applicants will be working with an experienced associate veterinarian (BVSc JCU 2012) and a polite, vastly experienced clinical director (BVSc UQ 1991; MANZCVS 2004 (Small Animal Surgery)). We foster thoroughness, professional development and the maintenance of a healthy work-life balance.
The practice is very well equipped – digital radiography, extensive range of surgical instruments and equipment, electrosurgical unit, suction, patient warmers, multi-parameter patient monitors, CRI pumps, in-house haematology, blood and urine chemistry analysers, IM3 dental unit.
We manage a vast array of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical cases that might otherwise be referred, and we regularly utilise a visiting specialist ultrasonographer.
The Gap Veterinary Surgery is part of the CVS (Australia) group of practices. This provides employees with a range of benefits. You will have access to CVS’s “Knowledge Hub”, which includes an extensive range of webinars and courses, access to “Vet Oracle” (specialist case advice), and mental wellbeing support. A CVS employee is also able to take advantage of discounted pet food, private health cover, and gym membership. One weeks paid study leave (pro rata), and an annual allowance of up to $2500.00 for continuing education expenses (pro rata).
Our permanent nurses are experienced and certificate IV qualified, and our head nurse has 16 years nursing experience, including specialist nursing. Our nurses are technically skilled, including but not limited to placement of intravenous catheters, radiography, procurement of blood samples and establishing/monitoring anaesthesia and CRI’s.
Do you want to practice veterinary medicine and surgery in a supportive, relaxed and good-humoured environment? Do you want to be part of a team that is an integral part of a tight-knit, family-oriented, pet-loving community?
We love our work, we support one another, we like to have a laugh, and we feel privileged to be practicing in The Gap.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and clinical skill set.
Please send a covering letter (including a description of your suitability) and your resume to chapposd@gmail.com, addressed to Scott Chapman (Clinic Director). For further information please feel free to contact Scott on (07) 3300 1533.
