Hey there! We’re a long-established, privately-owned small animal practice in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and we’re excited to welcome a passionate vet with at least 2 years of experience to our team. Having lost two vets to retirement and maternity leave, we need someone to start ASAP. We’ve been part of the community for 40 years, and we pride ourselves on partnering with our clients to ensure their pets have the happiest, healthiest lives possible.

Here’s the lowdown:

  • Part-Time
  • Salary: Starting from $89,000 FTE plus superannuation
  • No after-hours, Sundays, or public holidays – because life outside of work matters.
  • Minimal sole charge work, and just 1 in 3 Saturdays, 9am-1pm.
  • Leave: 4 weeks of annual leave + 1 week of study leave (pro rata) – because we love continuous learning!

What we want:

  • Must hold a BVSc/DVM or equivalent, valid in Australia.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen/Resident
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in small animal practice
  • You possess the qualities of motivation, focus and accountability, whilst knowing when to seek assistance if it is needed.
  • Patient care is our top priority – We need someone who shares our passion and commitment to providing the best care tailored to fit the specific patient and client
  • Team player – Collaboration is key as you’ll be working with a dedicated team of experienced vets and long-serving nurses.
  • Excellent communication skills – You need to be able to explain tough concepts in an easy-to-understand manner for our clients
  • Keep sharp with continuing education – We support and encourage ongoing learning to ensure you stay at the forefront of veterinary practice.

What makes us different?

  • You’ll be working alongside three young but experienced vets (7/10/15 years each in practice) and a team of dedicated nurses with serious longevity—some of our nurses have been with us for over 15 years!
  • We always put our patients' health and wellbeing first. We take the time to partner with our clients, helping them make informed decisions about their pet’s health—even if that means referring or bringing in a mobile specialist (we have a great working relationship with external specialists including surgeons, internal med and radiology for second opinions and procedures such as in house CT)
  • Dedicated 1-hour lunch breaks in our cozy staff lounge – no skipping meals here!
  • We provide you with allocated times during the schedule to do your work ups and write histories
  • We’re proudly not corporate – which means no micromanaging and the freedom to practice in a way that makes you feel comfortable.
  • An amazing team of experienced nurses who take care of the legwork (cannulas, blood testing, ear cytology etc) so you can focus on patient care and, together, provide the very best for our furry clients.
  • We also have a coffee machine, a snack drawer, and a love for "free dress Fridays" – because we like to have FUN at work!
  • Close to Heathmont Train Station, local cafes and shops

We also provide a clinic CVE (Centre for Veterinary Education) and VIN license.

If you’re looking for a supportive, community-focused environment where you can develop your skills without the corporate stress, we’d love to hear from you!
