Looking for a new challenge in your veterinary career? Ready to take the leap into emergency medicine?

Whether you're a GP vet with a couple of years of experience or just starting to explore the ECC world, we've got the perfect opportunity for you.

Why Peninsula Vet Emergency and Referral Hospital?

We're not just a hospital - we're a team that supports and empowers each other. Located just over an hour from Melbourne (against traffic!), our purpose-built facility in Mornington is home to a passionate and collaborative emergency and referral team. Here, you'll be working alongside:

  • An ECC Specialist
  • A residency-trained ECC Registrar
  • Senior emergency vets with memberships
  • Experienced ECC nurses
  • Plus, you'll have access to specialists in surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, and cardiology.

What makes us different?

  • Mentorship matters: We understand the transition from GP to ECC can feel daunting. That's why we've created a welcoming, structured onboarding process tailored for vets with 1–2 years of experience. You'll never feel like you're in the deep end without support.
  • Facilities that support your growth: Think ICU suites, CT, fluoroscopy, critical care ventilators, endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasonography, and in-house lab equipment—everything you need to level up.
  • A culture of learning: With daily case rounds, in-house education (that you get paid to attend!), and generous CPD leave and allowances, we prioritise your development.

About the role

In this role, you'll:

  • Manage a broad range of ECC cases from walk-ins and referrals
  • Be supported in developing your ECC skills—including emergency surgeries and procedures
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to provide integrated patient care

What we're looking for

  • A vet with 1–2 years' experience in GP or mixed practice who's keen to dive into ECC
  • A team player with strong communication and time management skills
  • Someone passionate about emergency medicine and ready to learn from the best
  • If you already have ECC experience—amazing! If not, we'll help you get there.

What we offer you

  • Competitive salary + super based on experience
  • Additional shift allowances (especially for overnights)
  • Rotating roster for real work-life balance
  • 1 week paid study leave + generous CPD budget
  • Support with relocation and visa sponsorship (if eligible)
  • Paid parental leave, staff discounts, wellness and mental health support
  • Long-term, supportive team with fantastic staff retention
