Experienced Veterinary Nurse – Part Time (4 Days/Week)

Looking for a fulfilling nursing role without the after-hours hustle?

Elgar Road Veterinary Hospital is a busy, independently owned clinic located in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We’re on the lookout for an experienced veterinary nurse to join our friendly team, working four days a week and one Saturday a month. This role includes a mix of surgical and reception duties across weekday shifts.

Why Join Us?

  • No after-hours or on-call shifts
Clinic hours are 8am–7pm, Monday to Friday. Shifts are either 8am–4pm or 11am/12pm–7:30pm. Saturday shifts (8am–4pm) are shared among some team members.
  • Strong team support
At least two nurses are on the floor at all times with 1–2 vets consulting. From midday, you’ll usually be joined by 3–4 nurses. We also have a dedicated surgical vet and nurse.
  • Modern facilities & equipment
We’re well equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, iM3 dental suite, in-house pathology, and more. Plus, we’ve recently renovated our consult rooms, reception, theatre, and hospital spaces.
  • Work-life balance is a top priority
Lunch breaks are paid, and we ensure scheduled breaks are respected. Our team is supported by a dedicated Practice Manager who truly values balance and wellbeing.
  • Fun, friendly culture
We’re a close-knit crew who love what we do—and we enjoy a good laugh (and great snacks). Fancy birthday cakes, team lunches, and training sessions with delicious food are all part of the experience.
  • We value your skills
You’ll be working alongside vets with a minimum of 5 years' experience and offered above award wages.

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 2 years of full-time veterinary nursing experience
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing preferred (but not essential)
  • A passion for surgical nursing and keeping theatre running like clockwork
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Someone who takes initiative and works well both independently and as part of a team
