At The Natural Vets, integrated treatment solutions are the norm. We pride ourselves on proactive medicine, exceptional standards of care and outstanding experiences. And no, we don’t have a cauldron out the back, or a broomstick. Everything we do is underpinned by science.

So, what could you be getting yourself into if you come work with us?

• Complex medical case work-ups and palliative care caseload;
• Dentistry and dental radiography - we fix LOTS of grotty teeth;
• Critical anaesthetics - and an excellent track record for anaesthetic safety;
• Soft-tissue or orthopaedic surgeries. (But the desire or ability to perform these is not essential. We have both mobile surgeons and excellent referral facilities who can fill the gap if you don’t want to.)

And, because we’re different, you need to open to widening your scope with integrative care plans. Your ability to develop them commensurate with your current skillset. Alternative modalities we offer include Chinese and Western herbal medicine, acupuncture, wholefoods nutrition and homeopathy. (On-the-job training will be provided for those who have not yet pursued further study.)

So… essential qualities you need to thrive in this environment?

Let’s get the obvious ones out the way. You need to have your veterinary qualification. Be registered to practice in Australia. Enjoy working as part of a team.

• Be dedicated to providing exceptional standards of care.
• Be willing to follow practice protocols. Especially relating to standards of care, communication (client and colleagues) and work ethic.
• Be receptive to feedback, from both leadership and your team members.
• (NB/Some feedback will be numbers-based. If you don’t already know what a KPI is, it’s never too late to learn.)
• Desirable qualities that will also benefit you, and us:
• A growth mindset.
• Resilience.
• A sense of humour. We like people who can make us laugh.
• You enjoy the dynamic landscape a day in the life of a vet provides.
• You have excellent time-management skills.

The nitty-gritty:

• Part-time hours (3.5 days per week including Saturdays) - more hours can be offered for those after full-time work;
• Pay rate well above award and commensurate with skill-set and experience (all of our experienced vets are on pa wages of >$130,000 for equivalent full-time position);
• Paid study leave and annual training budget;
• All the usual perks apply;
• No Sundays / after-hours;
• New or recent grads are welcome to apply and will be supported to onboard.
• A proven interest in natural therapies would increase the stakes.
• We are open to considering sponsorship for the right applicant.
