Ten Lives Cat Centre, Tasmania's largest cat management facility, is looking for a Head Veterinarian to join our compassionate and experienced team. About us
We are a predominantly self-funded charity dedicated to caring for Tasmania's cats and kittens. We provide shelter and care for those who are lost, abandoned, stray, or whose owners can no longer care for them. Beyond direct care, we are also committed to community education programs on responsible cat ownership, offer vital community outreach services, and undertakes project work in local communities.

Qualifications Required
- BVsc or equivalent and State-based veterinary registration.
Skills, Abilities and Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience as a veterinary surgeon with practical experience in the care of cats and kittens.
- Highly experienced and confident with cat handling including low stress cat handling techniques.
- Experience in, or extensive exposure to, shelter work, particularly cats.
- A high level of resilience and the capacity to swiftly adapt and reprioritise in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in running a Veterinary Surgery, or ability to quickly acquire.
- Knowledge and understanding of the animal welfare sector, Animal Welfare Act 1993 and the Cat Management Act 2009, or an ability to quickly acquire such.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including a positive and friendly attitude and ability to effectively communicate at a high standard with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution and relationship management skills with a proven ability to build strong, positive professional relationships.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and administrative abilities, as well as a knack for problem-solving.
- The ability to excel both independently and as a collaborative member of our team.
