2026 Internal Medicine Residency Program QVS

QVS is Australia’s longest established, privately owned 24/7 specialist hospital. Based across two sites, Stafford and North Lakes with plans to grow including a new hospital site at the Sunshine Coast in 2025. Current disciplines include internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, theriogenology, dermatology, anaesthesia, oncology and cardiology with immediate plans to expand our services.

You will be joining the wider hospital group currently supported by 15 internal medicine clinicians made up of 5 specialists, 4 registrars, 2 residents 4 interns.

Our team works closely across all disciplines to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each patient's condition, fostering an environment of shared knowledge and expertise.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, our purpose-built hospitals feature advanced technology including High Field 1.5T MRI, dual CT scanners, multiple digital radiography (DR) suites and ultrasound (US) rooms, fluoroscopy capabilities.

RESIDENCY PROGRAM - commencing January 2026 for 3 years:

About the Residency Program:

  • Enrol in a 3-year residency in Internal Medicine
  • Receive direct clinical supervision from a team comprising 5 Specialists and 4 Registrars
  • Engage in a variety of academic activities, including journal clubs, rounds, and participation in internal, domestic, and international conferences
  • Receive training in complementary disciplines such as pathology, surgery, anaesthesia, and diagnostic imaging, broadening your knowledge base and skill set
  • Contribute to advancement of veterinary medicine through continuing education initiatives and presentations at international conferences

Requirements of the applicant:

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, unwavering commitment, and resilience in the demanding clinical environment
  • Have successfully completed a prior internship, laying the foundation for successful completion of the residency program
  • Fulfill all credential requirements set forth by the program (either ECVIM or ANZCVS) by the conclusion of the three-year residency
  • Publish a minimum of two peer-reviewed articles by the end of the residency, contributing valuable insights to the field
