Internship In Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging
The Austin Vet Specialists
Job Description
The Austin Vet Specialists is growing! Our imaging case load is ever-growing and exciting with a wide variety of cases.
Therefore, we are looking for an Intern in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging to join our team.
The Internship:
The Internship is a one-year clinical position with a start date as soon as possible. The goal is to give the Intern a deeper knowledge and gain experience within the field of small animal Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. This is a full-time position (5 days per week Mon-Fri with rotational on-call weekends).
The Intern will be part of the Diagnostic Imaging team, consisting of two full-time and two part-time board-certified radiologists (ECVDI, ACVR and FANZCVS), two ECVDI residents, one imaging intern, an imaging clinician, dedicated imaging nurse, three radiographers and a full team of nurses and animal care attendants.
The daily work will revolve around the participation in the small animal ultrasound and radiology service as well as providing support to the imaging nursing team. This will include veterinary specific tasks (such as supporting the anaesthesia plans and preparation of imaging patients, managing some post-operative in-hospital patient care and assisting with discharges) as well as imaging specific tasks (such as performing ultrasounds, interpreting radiographs). Needless to say, the Intern can expect full support and instruction in performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging examinations.
Additional activities include exposure to advanced cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI), daily hospital rounds, in-house journal club, regular imaging rounds and much more.
The internship is intended to provide the first step for a candidate with a strong interest in veterinary diagnostic imaging to start an academic, research and/or clinical career in veterinary diagnostic imaging (e.g. residency).
