Design your own job - do what interests you.
Monaro Veterinary Clinic was established in 1985 and has an amazing reputation in the community. The case load is about 80% companion animals, 10% beef cattle, and 10% horses. A love of working dog Kelpies and working dog Dachshunds is a must for this position! Opening hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-5pm so you don't have to work weekends if you don't want to. The clinic has all the regular equipment including in-house blood machine and ultrasound.
There is a great friendly team atmosphere and the only staff member to leave in the last 5 years was due to retirement. The clinic has grown recently. The benefit here is that the new veterinarian can assist in shaping the future.
Do you like medicine? No problems, you will get the challenging medical cases such as snakebites, diabetics, hormonal diseases... Or you can share these cases.
Do you want to do mostly companion animals or horses or cattle? No problems, you choose.
Do you want to develop your orthopaedic skills? No problems, there are plenty of working dog fractures and TPLOs which you can scrub in on with the practice owner. Plus there are some other interesting surgery cases such as GDV, pig attacks, kangaroo attacks, splenectomies...
Do you like or dislike on call? No problems, choose to be in the roster or just help with the cases during standard hours.
Do you like holidays? Lets discuss adding extra weeks of holiday to the standard 4 plus 1 for CPD.
Mentoring and backup support would be provided for a new or recent graduate. This can be tailored to your wishes and can include scrubbing in for surgeries, having two vets travel to large animal cases, and attending emergency visits together.
