Job Description

Part-Time Veterinarian at Rouse Hill Family Vets

Are You The Motivated and Dynamic Veterinarian We Are Looking For?

Are you a veterinarian searching for a modern, Fear Free Certified veterinary hospital where you can thrive, learn, and make a real difference? Then this could be your dream role!

If you’ve got a passion for providing high quality, minimal-stress patient care… if you want to strengthen the human-animal bond… if you’re skilled in communication and love working as part of a supportive team… then we’d love to meet you.

We’re a small animal veterinary hospital that recognises the link between the emotional and physical wellbeing of our patients. We are proactive about reducing fear, anxiety and stress during veterinary visits, and we’ve built excellent frameworks to support this.

You’ll be part of a company that has one main goal: creating a veterinary hospital where the pets want to be, the client wants to be, and the team wants to be.

This is a part-time role, designed for school hours and/or shorter days across 3–5 days per week.

About You

  • You are smart, adaptable and kind.
  • You have a growth mindset and embrace continuous learning.
  • You are committed to working within a Fear Free Certified framework and low-stress handling techniques.
  • You value the structure of 30-minute consultations as time to work up cases properly, make thoughtful recommendations, and build trust with clients and patients.
  • You’re an excellent communicator with strong emotional intelligence.
  • You’re accountable for your outcomes and thrive on feedback.
  • You bring your authentic self to work and value inclusivity.
  • You’re resilient, adaptable, and driven to grow personally and professionally.
  • Must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board.
  • Minimum 2 years full-time post-graduate clinical experience (or equivalent).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team-based consulting with a dedicated nurse assisting and starting your consults.
  • Handling, examining and treating dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs in a Fear Free manner.
  • Providing first aid and care to injured wildlife.
  • Performing diagnostic tests such as radiographs, bloodwork, urine testing, cytology, aspirates, and ultrasound.
  • Creating individualised care plans covering nutrition, preventative dental care, preventative medicines, desexing, behaviour, wellness exams, and geriatric care.
  • Communicating care plans with clients and updating them as required.
  • Performing surgery and managing anaesthesia.
  • Maintaining accurate patient histories and clinical records.

What You’ll Get

✅ Training & Support: Structured 6-week induction program, in-house mentor, and weekly team training.
✅ Fear Free Certification & Memberships: All staff are Fear Free Certified; we cover training and memberships, plus VIN and Plumb’s.
✅ Continuing Education: One week paid study leave and allowance (pro-rata), plus visiting experts and workshops.
✅ Team Building: Quarterly team events – from camping weekends to escape rooms, yoga, and more.
✅ Above-Award Salary: Plus staff discounts, Saturday loading, closed on Public Holidays and over Christmas/New Year.
✅ Passionate, Vibrant Team: A supportive, skilled group with diverse areas of interest.
✅ Career Growth: Clear progression pathways for vets and nurses.
✅ Culture: Small, dynamic, close-knit, and people-first – no corporate cookie-cutter here.
✅ Collaboration: Internal referrals and shared expertise across behaviour, dentistry, rehabilitation, feline medicine, BOAS surgery, and more.
