Veterinarian - Dairy Cattle Health and Production

The School of Veterinary Science at Massey University invites applications for the position of Practicing Veterinarian in Farm Animal Health based in the mighty Manawatū of New Zealand. This is a permanent, full-time role. You must hold a veterinary degree registrable in New Zealand and have clinical experience.

The position is suited to an experienced farm animal clinician with a strong dairy focus and a passion for teaching undergraduate veterinary students.

Experience and interest in preventative medicine, meat hygiene and state veterinary medicine is an advantage for this role. Previous experience designing and leading new curriculum and learning content is also desirable. You will provide clinical services to clients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (primarily dairy cattle, but also other production animal species) and develop/deliver clinical teaching to undergraduate students during practicals, tutorials and on-farm visits.

We service Massey-owned and commercial farms, and our focus is on providing high quality, relevant teaching opportunities for our students, both on-farm and in our new Farm Animal Hospital.

We have a talented team of vets, techs and support staff, including general practitioners and boarded specialists in dairy cattle and ruminant internal medicine, surgery and reproduction so you will always be supported in providing the best clinical practice and teaching.

What's on offer?

We offer a family-friendly work environment, flexible hours, and a strong focus on well-being and work-life balance.

Enjoy generous sick leave, four weeks of paid annual leave, five days of paid university holiday, and additional pay for after-hours shifts (shared 1:5).

There is a generous CPD allowance and opportunity for advanced qualifications like the Master of Veterinary Medicine and AdvanceHE fellowship. Clinical work is integral to academic promotion at Massey.
