Key tasks and responsibilities of the role (your contribution)

We are looking for a frontline Principal Operational Veterinarian to join our high performing team in Animal Biosecurity and Welfare to:

• Use professional veterinary expertise and experience to conduct complex animal disease investigations and surveillance activities, provide professional advice and analysis based on sound epidemiological knowledge including risk assessments.
• Proactively facilitate team and organisational capability development through knowledge sharing, mentoring and leadership.

Mandatory requirements

• It is a mandatory requirement for a professional officer to possess an Australian Bachelor degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in veterinary science from a recognised tertiary institution.
• For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework. The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training can assist with these assessments for Queensland residents.
