SMALL ANIMAL HOSPITAL
We are looking for a PT to FT vet to join our 5-vet small animal hospital in Perth, Western Australia. This role would suit an experienced vet or a capable recent graduate.
Lakeside Vet Centre is situated in Joondalup, 20 minutes north of the CBD. Our premises have 3 consult rooms plus a dedicated euthanasia room, 2 receptions, 2 treatment rooms, 2 surgical theatres, dedicated vets office and a comfortable, grassed backyard for our patients.
We have a fun and casual staff culture, whilst having earnt an increasingly rare reputation in the community of respect through knowledge, friendliness and a personalised take on delivering health care. We create client trust via thorough communication and honesty which allows full workups as needed, which is helped by a high pet insurance uptake.
We're big on servicing our clients and have moved to extended 20 minute consults and 30 minute euthanasias to give our clients (and staff) the time they deserve. We have a wonderful clientele, with a high majority being of UK and South African heritage.
We encourage out of work and family interests, with our rosters set accordingly. Our staff enjoy regular team bonding events outside of work and have included Escape Rooms, Wildcat's games and after work drinks/meals.
We are highly equipped with RC ducted A/C, acoustic panelling in consult rooms, Agfa DR xray with Zoomax interface, Mindray Vetus E7 ultrasound, wireless video otoscope, Tonopen XL, Bovie diathermy with smoke evacuator, Darvall inspiratory air warmers, active scavenge systems, Vetscan HM5 & VS2, Vcheck 200 and Qlabs Coag blood machines, Vetscan UA analyser and a central oxygen generator. We run Open VPMS software with Vetcheck integration.
Our accessory staff have dedicated roles, so you'll be supported by a team of receptionists as well as surgical nurses who all only focus on a single role meaning higher performance, less mistakes and more accountability.
We have just finished a major hospital redevelopment and expansion and now enjoy working in a professional and comfortable work place.
Our case load is large and varied which means you'll get to see a variety of complex medical cases which you are encouraged to work up and manage. We offer a comprehensive in house surgical list including TPLO and MPL correction, gastropexies and ophthalmic procedures.
The position will require a high degree of surgical competency (including unassisted spays, lumpectomies and dental extractions) and medical knowledge.
Roster option 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am – 7pm plus 1:2 Saturdays 9am - 3pm, averaging 33hrs/week.
Roster option 2: As above with extra Monday shift 9am – 3pm, averaging 39hrs/week.
These rosters give you a 3-4 day weekend every fortnight allowing you to take short holidays without claiming on your annual leave. We always have at least 2-3 vets on daily.
Salary will be determined by your experience, technical skills, ability to communicate effectively with our staff and “read the room” with clients, time management & ability to generate income.
If you are looking to work in an independent hospital where you can balance your lifestyle with a professional workplace and be proud of where and who you work with, then we'd live to hear from you.
Interstate and international applications welcome.
