Senior Racing Veterinary Surgeon / Senior Racing Stable Veterinarian

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) is a prestigious organization dedicated to excellence in horse racing and equine welfare.

We are currently seeking a professional individual with prior racetrack experience to join our veterinary team.

The Job

You will:

  • Provide comprehensive veterinary care for racehorses during training and racing events.
  • Provide special surgical services.
  • Manage the veterinary suitability of horses to participate in training and racing to ensure compliance with Club health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with trainers, owners, and racing officials regarding horse health and welfare.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to develop and implement care protocols.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for all treated horses.
  • Veterinary Surgeon will provide special surgical services, while Stable Veterinarian will focus on clinical services. However, both will be responsible for providing the full life cycle of care for our horses.

About You

You should have:

  • A degree in veterinary science that must be registerable with the Hong Kong Veterinary Surgeons Board.
  • Significant prior experience in racetrack veterinary practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • A collegial and pragmatic approach, with a strong emphasis on teamwork; we seek candidates who foster a positive and supportive environment.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is an advantage but not essential.

Terms of Employment

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
