Exciting opportunity for a Senior Veterinarian with RSPCA SA – Make a difference in animal welfare!

RSPCA SA is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinarian to join our dedicated team of veterinarians, vet nurses and animal behaviourists to provide exceptional veterinary care to support the welfare of animals.

With a new campus and a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic, this is an exciting role for someone who is ready to bring their veterinary expertise and leadership to an organisation that truly makes a difference.

What you will do:

• Provide leadership to the veterinary team to handle, examine, assess, diagnose and treat a variety of animals.
• Accurately perform surgeries and emergency operations, prescribe and administer medications, and ensure appropriate record keeping.
• Provide leadership to the animal behaviour team to develop plans for the management of animal behaviour cases.
• Establish and conduct quarantine and testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases.
• Assist RSPCA Inspectorate with welfare and cruelty cases.
• Oversee and mentor veterinary students on placement with RSPCA SA, providing guidance, feedback, and hands-on training to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Services Manager to implement a clinical governance framework, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, industry standards and organisational policies and procedures.

   

What you will bring:

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent), registered in South Australia.
• Five years or more demonstrated experience in a veterinary environment.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and motivating a high performing team of veterinary professionals.
• Knowledge and application of legislation relevant to animal welfare and veterinary services.
• A passion for animal welfare and a dedication to making a difference in the lives of animals and the people who care for them.
• Strong communication and decision-making abilities, and the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
