Looking for an exciting, meaningful role with a team that genuinely enjoys coming to work?
Gippsland Pet Emergency (GPE) is a purpose-built emergency veterinary clinic based in Warragul, Gippsland. Operated in partnership with West Gippsland Vet Care, we’ve grown into a trusted and essential service with a steady, interesting caseload and a happy, tight-knit team.
We offer a family-owned work environment where your voice is heard – no corporate red tape, just a passionate group of people focused on providing excellent patient care and supporting one another.
Located just an hour from Melbourne, beaches, and snow fields, our clinic offers the perfect balance between regional living and city access. Whether you’re looking for a tree-change, sea-change, or just a better work-life balance – Gippsland has it all.
🔍 About the Role
We’re looking for veterinarians to join our emergency team. Our vets come from a variety of backgrounds – some with ECC experience, others transitioning from general practice. What they all have in common is a love for the work, and a commitment to great team culture.
Our service is currently open weekends and public holidays, with plans to expand to a 7-day-a-week model. Shifts are well-supported, well-paced, and structured to give you breathing space to do good work.
🌟 Why Join GPE?
- Supportive Team Culture: We’ve built a genuinely kind, collaborative team who have each other’s backs – especially on those tough shifts.
- Happy, Engaged Staff: Our vets and nurses stay because they love the work environment.
- Established Caseload: We’re past the start-up phase, with consistent case flow and a well-managed pace.
- Well-Resourced Facility: Our custom-built emergency clinic includes in-house diagnostics, digital radiography, ultrasound, oxygen cages, and everything you need to do your best work.
- Day Clinic Collaboration: You’ll have the backing of the West Gippsland Vet Care team for handovers and continuity.
💰 Pay & Benefits
- Starting rate of $80/hour, with higher rates depending on experience
- Penalty rates for public holidays
- No unpaid overtime – you’re paid for every hour worked
- Generous CPD budget and development pathways for those wanting to grow in ECC
- Mental health and wellbeing are a priority – we actively support sustainable rostering, downtime, and open communication
- Option to pick up day shifts at West Gippsland Vet Care for variety or additional hours
👩⚕️ Who We’re Looking For
- Confident, compassionate veterinarians who enjoy a challenge
- Previous ECC experience is welcome but not essential – we’ll support the right people to build their skills
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and teamwork skills
- Someone who enjoys being part of a positive, values-driven team
- Must be eligible for veterinary registration in Victoria
