PERMANENT/PART TIME/CASUAL VETERINARIAN REQUIRED
We are a small vet practice in the beautiful Daylesford region. We are currently operating with a single veterinarian/owner and are unable to keep up with the demand for our services. The population in our region is growing rapidly and we could easily support 2 full time vets.
We are seeking an experienced (preferably) small animal veterinarian to join our small but rapidly expanding clinic in Daylesford. A long-established practice, currently for sale, just over 1 hour from Melbourne & 35 minutes from Ballarat.
We can offer flexible employment options but ultimately we are seeking someone to enter the role with a long-term future in mind, including possible ownership of the clinic although this is not essential. We will happily consider a full time, part time or casual role depending on your requirements. Ideally the role would be a minimum of 2 days a week. Our preference for this role is an experienced applicant, however we would also consider recent graduates. Salary is negotiable, we are open to all ideas including fee splitting incentives.
About us:
We are a small clinic based in Daylesford that mainly services small animals. The clinic itself offers huge potential to easily employ 2 full time vets on a daily basis. Large animal and hobby farm work has been turned away for a long time due to staffing/time constraints. Being a small clinic in a close-knit community means we have built a fabulous rapport with clients, many of whom have been coming to us since the practice started in 2006.
The clinic offers all routine and preventative care services, as well as emergency treatment of medical and surgical cases. We have VetScan in house HM5 haematology & VS2 biochemistry, VetScan Urine Analyser, DR xray, all essential diagnostic tools, small animal ultrasound and surgical instruments including Stryker drill, pin driver & oscillating saw. The clinic has two consult rooms, two species specific kennel rooms and a large surgery & radiology area.
Our ideal candidate:
To thrive in this role, you should have well developed diagnostic, surgery and communication skills. Our little world is diverse in this region and clientele come from all different walks of life & socioeconomic backgrounds. Having the skills to make connections with various types of people is very important.
Being a small practice you must be confident to work independently, although support will always be available from the current veterinarian & your experienced nursing team. The successful applicant will need to be able to perform consultations and veterinary treatment (medical & surgical) on all small animals commonly seen in practice. Any knowledge of farm animals will also be beneficial but not crucial to the role.
