About us
Would you like to join our outstanding professional team of animal lovers, who enjoy coming to work each day?
Turramurra Veterinary Hospital is a supportive team who ensure that we provide the best care possible for our patients and their owners on a daily basis. We consider our community's pets as an extension of our own family.
We believe work should be enjoyed, not endured. We are proud to have maintained a pleasant workplace environment that focuses on team collaboration, leadership and career development.
Turramurra Veterinary Hospital is a 6-vet (full-time equivalent) practice and the North Shore's only ASAV-accredited Hospital of Excellence, and we are a Lincoln Institute Accredited Employer of Choice.
We are located in Sydney's Upper North Shore, close to National Parks and around 30 minutes from the city and close to the Northern Beaches.
We have a purpose-built recently renovated modern and well-equipped building with two sterile surgical theatres, My Lab ultrasound, oxygen cage/oxygen concentrator, Canon DR digital radiology suite, IM3 dental x-rays, Vet-Tome, Vetscan pathology/Imagyst suite and VetNotes AI technology. We regularly have visiting specialists provide services for our practice and we have an Exotics vet on our team who works twice weekly.
We aim for the gold-standard of care for our patients and to facilitate this, we have a high ratio of supportive team members to vets and allow 30-minute primary consultations so that our vets have the time to develop client rapport and provide a high level of patient care without the stress of being overbooked. We provide consult-free time and are rostered adequately to ensure there is adequate time to update patient records, report pathology results and fit in triage appointments if required. There are pre-entered urgent appointment blocks before close to reduce the likelihood of vets being held back after their allocated finish time.
Our team of over 30 employees, includes our dedicated Customer Care Team, who is supported by our Nursing Team and Hospital Assistants as required.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced veterinarian, who has exceptional communication skills in building client rapport, is comfortable performing thorough diagnostic investigations and enjoys practising a high standard of veterinary medicine. High level surgical skills are welcome but not essential for this role and we would consider a veterinarian who prefers a consulting only position. Our practice would also be able to support a return-to-work program for a veterinarian who has taken a break from practice.
The role would suit either a permanent full-time or part-time position. We could also accommodate a part-time vet during winter 2025 followed by a transition into a full-time roster around spring/summer 2025.
A permanent full-time position is based on 38 hours per week. Your weekly roster includes 1-2 surgery shifts and 2-3 consulting shifts, including a shared weekend roster of 1 in 2 Saturdays and 1 in 4 Sundays plus 2 Public Holidays per year. There is very little sole-charge work required.
A part-time position based on 15-30 hours per week depending on your preferred number of weekly hours. Your weekly roster will include 1 surgery shift and 2-3 consulting shifts, including a shared weekend roster of 1 in 3 Saturdays, 1 in 6 Sundays and 1 Public Holiday per year. There is very little sole-charge work required.
We encourage a healthy work-life balance so there are no after-hours on-call work, as we refer locally to Northside Emergency Veterinary Service (NEVS). On occasions where there is an in-patient that needs to be checked in the late evening, the vet or nurse available to do the check is paid a fee for doing so, which is charged to the client.
