Current disciplines include internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, theriogenology, dermatology, anaesthesia and cardiology with immediate plans to expand our services.
The surgical department comprises of 6 surgeons and provides an array of advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic services. The surgical and anaesthesia nursing team are extremely passionate and knowledgeable and live and breathe all things surgical nursing. You will be completely supported in the transition from general practice nursing and will follow a dedicated training program. The successful candidate will join an experienced nursing team with high case involvement.
About the role:
- Receive dedicated mentorship as you transition into specialist surgical and anaesthesia nursing - we encourage the progression of GP nurses and allow them to flourish as a specialist nurse
- Engage in a diverse array of challenging and high-risk anaesthesia cases
- Experience a fascinating and varied role dealing with challenging cases, all while being supported by a highly skilled team that appreciates your contributions
- Gain advanced anaesthetic skills including arterial lines, advanced CRIs, nerve blocks and critical monitoring techniques
- Embark on a journey of continuous career development with mentorship and ongoing education through regular internal and external tutorials and training
- Have access to 2 specialists in Anaesthesia and Analgesia for case support and mentorship
- Seeking a full-time nurse although permeant part time hours will also be considered
Requirements of the Role:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
- At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in Veterinary Nursing
- A strong passion for delivering exceptional patient care, a team-oriented mindset, and a commitment to professional growth
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience in veterinary nursing procedures
- Confidence in anaesthesia monitoring
- A friendly, adaptable nature, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proven ability to consistently provide high-quality patient care, even in high-pressure situations
Desirable (but not essential) qualifications:
- Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Emergency and Critical Care) or similar
- Experience in an emergency or specialist veterinary hospital
