About the Team

We have the largest dedicated veterinary anaesthesia team in Western Australia (11 veterinarians and 7 nurses). Our anaesthesia team is highly experienced and includes specialist veterinary anaesthetists and specialty trained veterinary nursed supported by the most sophisticated anaesthetic monitoring equipment. All aspects of veterinary anaesthesia are covered, from elective medical and surgical procedures for healthy animals to emergency surgical procedures, including young, geriatric and critically ill animals.

Your New Role!  

The key purpose of this role is to provide high level veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia services to clinical sections within The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University.

Your Key responsibilities will include –

  • Provide high level anaesthesia and analgesia services to clinical sections within The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University (TAHMU) under the supervision of senior anaesthetists.
  • Assist senior anaesthetists with the day-to-day management of anaesthesia patients, including providing advice to other clinicians about animals requiring anaesthesia and perioperative analgesia and effectively treating and managing cases under their supervision and direction as appropriate.
  • Provide support and training to specialty trainees, students, visiting veterinarians and veterinary nurses in all aspects of anaesthesia and analgesia.

Selection Criteria:

  • Veterinary degree registrable by the Veterinary Surgeons' Board of Western Australia.
  • Ability to participate in the after-hours roster, including day, evening, weekend, public holiday and university holiday shifts.
  • Highly effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, and the demonstrated capability and willingness to interact constructively with staff at all levels of an organisation.
  • Excellent organisational, time and workload management skills, including the ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, assume responsibility for tasks and projects and to resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
