Privacy Policy for My Vet Jobs
Effective Date: April 15, 2025
1. The Basics
Hey there! This Privacy Policy explains how My Vet Jobs ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use our website (https://myvetjobs.com.au/) and services (the "Service"). Our goal is to connect folks looking for jobs in the Aussie vet industry ("Job Seekers") with clinics and organisations hiring ("Employers").
We take your privacy seriously and aim to be transparent about how we collect and use information. By using the Service, you agree to how we handle information as described here. This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service.
We operate under Australian privacy laws, including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. What Information We Collect (and Why)
We collect different types of information depending on how you use the site:
- Information Employers Provide:
- What: When an Employer posts a job, we collect details like the hiring organization's name, website URL, contact details (for account/payment purposes), job specifics (title, description, location, salary range if provided, etc.), and the external URL where candidates apply (
apply_url
). You might also upload your organization's logo. - Why: We need this to publish the job ad, make it searchable, allow Job Seekers to understand the role, and provide them with the link to apply directly to you. Contact details help us manage your account and billing. Logos help brand your listing.
- Payment Info: When paying for a post, you provide payment details directly to our payment processor, Stripe. We don't store your full credit card information ourselves. Stripe has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.

- Information from Job Seekers:
- What: Mostly, Job Seekers browse anonymously. We don't collect personal details like your name, email, or resume directly when you're just searching or viewing jobs. When you click "Apply", you leave our site and go to the Employer's provided link (
apply_url
). Any information you provide there goes directly to the Employer, not us. - Why: Our service focuses on listing jobs, not processing applications. This keeps things simple and means we handle less of your personal data directly.

- Information Collected Automatically:
- What: Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information when you visit. This includes:
- Usage Data: We use Simple Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand how people use our site (e.g., which pages are popular, general location of visitors based on IP address). Simple Analytics doesn't use cookies or collect personally identifiable information beyond the IP address (which is processed in a privacy-conscious way).
- Cookies: These are small data files stored on your browser. We use essential cookies for basic site functions like keeping you logged in (if applicable), security (like CSRF protection tokens), and remembering preferences. We don't use invasive tracking cookies for advertising. Third parties like Stripe or Google reCAPTCHA might set their own cookies needed for their services to work.
- IP Address: Your IP address is logged for security purposes (e.g., preventing abuse) and used by Simple Analytics for general location data.
- Google reCAPTCHA: We use this on forms (like the job posting form) to prevent spam bots. This service collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google for analysis. Google's Privacy Policy applies to this.
- Why: This technical information helps us run the site smoothly, understand usage patterns to improve the service, keep things secure, and prevent spam.

- With Service Providers: We share information with third parties who help us operate the Service:

5. Cookies and Tracking
As mentioned, we use essential cookies for site functionality and security. We use Simple Analytics for privacy-friendly usage stats. You can usually control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies might affect how the site works.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. This includes technical measures like using HTTPS, CSRF protection, and Content Security Policies. We also process and store uploaded logos securely. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Job postings expire after their term (e.g., 30 days). Employer account information is kept as long as the account is active or as needed for record-keeping. Anonymized analytics data may be kept longer.

- Access: Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading personal information.
